Oral health care should start from a young age. This can help lead to a lifetime of good oral health and a beautiful smile! As a parent, you may be curious when should you start taking your child to see the dentist? The American Dental Association indicates a first dental visit should be made when a child’s first tooth appears or no later than their first birthday. At Quarry Park Dental, we often see children around age two. It can be tempting to hold off until your child is older to bring them in to see a dentist. However, the sooner you bring them in, the easier it is for them to feel comfortable at a dental office, the sooner we can detect problems early and provide them with proper oral care.
When it is time for their first dental visit, we are here to assess their needs and suggest tips to keep up their oral care at home. We can review brushing tips, dietary assistance and help plan their next dental check-up. Often children can be covered under their parent’s dental care insurance plans too. Be sure to check your insurance plan for coverage.
If this will be your child’s first visit with us at Quarry Park Dental, give us a call and let us know! We can’t wait to meet them and help you prepare for a lifetime of good oral care! We look forward to having you visit our dental office in Calgary.
