Did you know that your saliva actually works to protect your teeth? If you don’t produce enough saliva naturally, there are a variety of ways you can increase your production.
It’s not everyone’s favourite, but spinach does help saliva flow! When your saliva flow production is increased, it helps naturally wash away loose particles or build up in your mouth.
Here’s a healthy and delicious recipe to enjoy spinach for your next meal!
INGREDIENTS LIST FOR SPINACH SALAD:
3 – 4 cups baby spinach, rinsed
1 Royal Gala apple, diced
1 handful dried cranberries
3 tablespoons chopped almonds
1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
The honey-apple cider dressing:
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 honey
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
2 teaspoons mustard (Dijon or whole-grain)
Spinach can help activate your saliva flow and wash away bacteria particles that have built up in your mouth. However, eating spinach is not a replacement for brushing your teeth!
